David Lawson Lean

David has a B.A Honours Degree from Plymouth University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Greenwich University. He works extensively as a Drama Practitioner.

David works as a Drama Workshop Leader and Acting Coach throughout Surrey and West London. He leads drama classes at a number of dance schools and weekend theatre schools, as well as having 15 years experience of coaching pupils for L.A.M.D.A drama examinations. As a Drama Consultant, David, works in schools both running workshops and providing training for primary school teachers on the use of drama in the classroom. He has also lectured in Drama in the further education sector. A number of David’s pupils have worked professionally.

He is the writer of numerous plays for children including: Shadows, The Top Top Floor Show, The Lost Witch of Holly Tree Haven, Guardians of Time, Paper Trails & Teapot Tales, Spectrecal, Mission 39, Fugitives Fable, The Wishing Stone, The Little Alien (all with music by Jane Marlow), Paradise, Parties and Prophesy, Famine, “12″, Departures, The Fairyland Trials and My Universe all of which he has directed with casts of young people from the London area. Other play writing credits include Confronting the Elephant and Eating Angels.

David’s own acting credits include: U.K tours of The Wind in The Willows, and A Christmas Carol, various repertory seasons, pantomime and a one-man play.

On the fringe David has directed The Bear by Chekhov and Mountain Language by Pinter.

David is a member of EQUITY. He is currently on the Executive of Kingston Arts Council and the director of Kingston Junior Drama Company.

David is also a licensed chaperone, and has worked extensively with children working in theatre, film and television.
